  • Effective Social Compliance Programs: Progressive Models and Data Management Strategies

Now, more than ever, retailers, apparel chains, brands and consumer focused companies are faced with increasing number of requirements from their investors, internal and external stake holders to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of their social compliance programs. Increasing allegations and incidents of labor law violations are an indication that organizations need to constantly improve their methodologies and capabilities to adapt to ongoing and varied supply chain challenges.

With multiple entities including suppliers, audit firms, NGOs, internal auditors collecting and managing data either in manual or siloed manner, the quality of data available is scattered and inconsistent. Also, collecting "Good Data" from audits, suppliers, compliance monitors or through shared platforms such as Sedex/BSCI/FFC, is a serious challenge as large number of suppliers still misrepresent their practices and feed in "Bad Data".

Organizations need to adopt comprehensive program models and data management strategies to measure social compliance risks, understand the impact of their efforts and report performance to stakeholders.

Join James McMichael, Vice President of Level Works Limited, MetricStream, and other speakers as they discuss various challenges that organizations are facing and provide their actionable suggestions. Key discussion points include:

o Compliance models and evolving data expectations
o Industry approaches to social compliance data management, importance of good data, managing skewed audit results
o Avoiding supplier dishonesty and falsification of data
o Using clean data to drive performance
o Recommendations for creating a credible social compliance program

  • October 2012 Announcement
  • Level Works receives SAAS SA8000 accreditation:

Level Works is pleased to announce that our certification division (Level Works Certification Services LWCS) has been accredited by SAAS to allow us to execute SA8000 certified audits. This has been a long-term objective that the company set in 2011. We see this service complementing our existing services and client needs and expansion into new sectors. In addition being SAAS accredited means we can apply to the BSCI to become an approved monitor for this initiative and its members.

In the coming months we shall have dedicated web pages for our SA8000 and BSCI services. Please visit us again soon to review these.

If you would like any further information on the above then please contact Justin Bettey our European Director at jbettey@level-works.com or +44 (0) 20 7993 5277

  • January 2012 Announcement
  • Level Works announces plans for providing client access to our proprietary internal database "HONEY COMB" (Designed by Ideo Concepts) in early 2012. "Providing client access to Honeycomb will allow our clients to review assessment scheduling status, historical factory performance, assessment results/reports, and metrics" says Guillaume Petit, Level Works European manager. According to James McMichael, Level Works VP, "What's even more exciting, is that this is just a first step for us. Next, within the first half of 2012, we will also be giving our strategic clients access to their own customizable business intelligence portal that will allow them to slice and dice data across all our assessment results - not just for their own suppliers. This is huge because, with our intense focus on driving transparency with supplier factories, we have the cleanest and best data in the industry.  This will enable real time benchmarking and reporting that is both sophisticated and street-wise."
